Requests for Donations - Program Overview

As a Catholic institution devoted to learning and service to Church and society, the University of Notre Dame seeks partnering opportunities with other educational institutions, non-profit service providers and religious organizations in finding creative responses to community needs. It is in this effort that the University has initiated a Connected Community Program for the purpose of responding to the needs of the community. This will be accomplished by making available such items as computers, furniture and other miscellaneous items for utilization in classrooms and/or the administrative functions of partnering institutions.  However, during the start-up phase of the NDSurplus program, items available for donation through the Connected Community Program will be limited.

Non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and recognized U.S. tribal organizations are eligible to be considered for donations. These eligible organizations will submit the Connected Community Program Donation Application to the University of Notre Dame's Department of Community Relations. Donations will be made, reviewed and awarded in accordance with the guidelines for the Connected Community Program.

Eligibility Guidelines

To participate in this program, organizations must: use the property in accordance with the organization's mission. Sale , trade, barter, or auctioning of the equipment is not permitted, although the property may be donated to another non-profit organization.

Application Process

The number of computers and other surplus items available each year will vary. The selection committee will review applications three times a year (March, July, and November) and will award the items available at that time. Applications are processed with the following priorities:

  1. Congregation of Holy Cross needs (missions, schools, etc.)
  2. Local Catholic organizations (schools, non-profits, etc)
  3. Other local non-profits
  4. ACE-affiliated schools nationwide

Applicants will receive notice of the status of their requests within 30 days. Surplus property will be available for pick-up upon receipt of award notification. Award recipients will need to schedule the pickup of the product. If the items need to be shipped the recipient will be responsible for scheduling freight line to transport the product to their location.

By signing this application, your organization agrees that while the donated equipment is operational at the time of donation, the University of Notre Dame makes no warranty, expressed or implied, including but not limited to, warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, as to the equipment's usability of functionality. The donation is accepted on an "as is" basis. All donations are made with the understanding that recipients are responsible for acquiring the desired application software, as well as installation, training, service and other start-up or maintenance fees related to the donation.
