4/29/09 Office Depot - Copy Paper Price Change and Updated Core List
Under Notre Dame’s pricing agreement with Office Depot, 30% recycled Green Top paper (catalog# 940650) will now cost less than the ubiquitous Red Top (catalog# 348037), which has no recycled content. Through our contract with Office Depot, we have held pricing since July 2008 and avoided two copy paper price increases. Effective May 1, 2009, the paper most commonly used on campus, Red Top, will increase in price by 10% to $31.92 per case while the Green Top paper will decrease 5% to $30.92 per case. The change in pricing is a result of an increased emphasis on sustainability in contract negotiations between Procurement Services and suppliers.
Additonally, Procurement Services has worked with Office Depot to offer a deeper discount on the most frequently purchased items. The revised Core List will now account for almost 50% of the annual spend with Office Depot. Items marked with “Best Value” icon indicate items on the Core List.
You can help offset some of the paper price increases by using “smart” copying and printing practices as well as increasing the use of electronic files. Following are a few ideas for offsetting these increases:
- Double side your printed copies whenever possible.
- Evaluate and use electronic folders for your e-mail.
- Carefully evaluate the number of copies you are printing.
- Consider moving information from a paper-based format to one that can be accessed online. Many of the Xerox copiers that have been installed on campus include the scan to e-mail option.
